About Us

Welcome to Based, your guide to the socially-trading organisations in Liverpool City Region.

Liverpool City Region is a hotbed of good business. We’ve been recognised as a Social Enterprise Place by SEUK – the first city region to be awarded the accolade – in recognition of the thriving social business scene here.

What does that mean for you?

Well, it means you can tap into a diverse and innovative array of socially-trading organisations (STOs). They’re businesses that deliver social benefits AND trade commercially – you can buy from them, commission them and collaborate with them. And by doing so, you’re helping to do good for the regional economy.

STOs are businesses with a social mission, who collaborate and increase their impact by working together to make a positive difference in their local communities.

When you shop or do business with a STO you’re making your money go further. Each £1 you spend creates a cascade of social value – local jobs, training, cross-funding vital community services and more. The money you spend stays in Liverpool City Region, because STOs are rooted in their communities, in every community across the region.

Looking to find community-minded coffee shops for your next trip to Liverpool? Or looking for catering for a business event you’re hosting in Halton or St Helens? You’ll find a great STO that has exactly what you’re looking for on Based.

Partnerships

Svara Radio x Based

We’re partnering with Liverpool-based radio station and STO, Svara Radio, which supports independent DJs, creatives and artists to showcase the new sounds and hidden gems of world music that rarely grace the mainstream airwaves. You can tune into Svara on each page of the directory, using the floating media player.

We’re also working with Svara to release a number of collaborative playlists via Based. These showcase the breadth of their work and how they work with businesses on all things music – designing playlists, music and sounds, as well as supplying DJs for events to help brands set the right tone for their work.
